Satinder Kassoana, an Indian-Canadian actor and filmmaker, first captured the spotlight with his debut feature film, 'Range Road 290'. This gripping crime drama, where he not only played the villain but also showcased his multifaceted talent as the writer, director, and editor, was officially selected for the prestigious International Film Festival of South Asia Toronto, North America's premier South Asian film fest. This nod of recognition marked a significant milestone in his career, celebrating his narrative and cinematic prowess. Transitioning from a post-graduate research scholarship holder in Computer Engineering to an actor and filmmaker, his credits include: 'Bonjour Ji,' a French short film that explores the prejudices held between different races and communities. The film won the Best Short Film award at five international film festivals, including the International Film Festival of South Asia Toronto in 2015, the Richmond International Film Festival USA in 2016, the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival in 2015, and it received the Best North American Short award at the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival in 2015. His other writing and directing credits include 'Don't Walk Among the Dead' (2016), a short film set in a post-apocalyptic world. It follows two sisters journeying to a rumored safe haven in the mountains and the violent encounter they face along the way. The film was produced with a grant from Telus and through a successful Kickstarter campaign. From 2009 to 2014, Satinder wrote and directed two TV shows for ethnic TV channels in Canada.
