Jomon Thomas is a producer with a commercially successful cache of cross cultural, critically acclaimed films. Born in India and raised in the U.A.E. he has strong ties to his cultural heritage and champions films of ethnic diversity.
He is currently in the post-production phase of Monkey Man, which is scheduled for its world premiere at South by Southwest, followed by a theatrical release on April 5, 2024. Monkey Man marks Dev Patel's directorial debut, with Patel also starring in the film.
He is an Executive Producer on Poker Face, which stars Russell Crowe and is his second directorial feature.
He produced the short film Roborovski (2020) which won the Flickerfest International Short Film Festival (Best Animation 2021).
Jomon Thomas also produced Hotel Mumbai (2018) which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and went on to win the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA Best Editing 2019) being nominated in 13 categories. It also won The Audience Award for Best Feature at the Adelaide Film Festival (2018). The film was nominated for a plethora of international awards in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
His short film Home Shopper (2018) was nominated for the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival (2018).
His film Damascus Cover (2017) won several awards at the Boston Film Festival (2017) including Best Film, Best Director, Best Ensemble Cast, Best Cinematography, Best Actor and Best Actress. It also won several awards at the Manchester International Film Festival (2018) including Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Film Editing and Best Production Design.
His film The Man Who Knew Infinity (2015) was critically acclaimed and well received by audiences globally. The film premiered at the 2015 Toronto Film festival and went on to be played at the Zurich Film Festival, Singapore International Film Festival and Dubai International Film Festival. Warner Brothers released the film in the U.K. and IFC Films released it in the U.S. in April 2016. The film was endorsed by the American Mathematical Society and the London Mathematical Society.
His film The Aussie who Baffled the World (2011) also released as Impossible Lens was acquired by National Geographic.
Jomon is a Consultant with S'YA Concept (2018-current) where he negotiates content acquisition, life rights, packaging and readies projects for production. S'YA Concept is a content development company which focuses on identifying stories, acquiring content and cultivating original ideas that have the potential to become films.
He is the former Head of Global Production of Xeitgeist Entertainment Group (2012-2019) and was the driving force behind new films and TV productions globally from identifying stories to script development, finance, production, sales and negotiating distribution platforms.
He is the former Director of Onion Media Group in Australia (2003-2010) and was involved in the initial production of the award-winning sports documentary The Code on the Foxtel network.
Jomon acquired his Masters Degree and studied Aviation Management at Emirates Aviation College in Dubai. He previously worked as an executive for the Emirates Group in the U.A.E. across multiple departments and with positions in senior management.
Jomon is passionately invested and on the board of Mr Morris Foundation a not-for-profit organisation which has established an orphanage, aged care home, school and medical center on Bintan island, Indonesia.
Jomon is on the board of the Australia India Film Council.
