Michael Sucsy is a Golden Globe, Emmy, and PGA Award-winning film director, screenwriter, and producer best known for creating "Grey Gardens" (HBO) in which he directed Jessica Lange to a Best Actress Emmy Award and Drew Barrymore to a Best Actress Golden Globe and SAG Award. Sucsy was raised in New York and New England and graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service where he studied International Relations. He gained extensive production experience prior to attending grad school working on numerous films, television shows and commercials. After earning a Masters of Fine Arts in film from the Art Center College of Design, Sucsy began directing commercials and was nominated for the Young Director of the Year Award given in conjunction with the 2002 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. For his directing debut Sucsy won a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award for best picture and was nominated for the WGA Award and the DGA Award. In total, Sucsy's Grey Gardens won 2 Golden Globes and 6 Emmys having garnered a record 17 Emmy nominations. The film also won top awards from the Producers Guild of America, American Cinema Editors, Art Directors Guild, Cinema Audio Society, Costume Designers Guild, and Casting Society of America. Sucsy followed up the success of his first film with "The Vow" (Sony), starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, which had a $42MM opening weekend and went onto gross $200MM worldwide. Sucsy resides in Los Angeles with his husband, Demitri Sgourakis.
