Luc Robert Poirier movie list
Luc Robert Poirier was born Lucas Killian-Yves Poirier in Montreal, Quebec, Canada of French and Irish parentage. He graduated business school and found work at CBS Radio affiliate WSUN in Tampa, FL selling ads then shortly thereafter an opportunity to work on-air came his way and he became "Kyle Lucas", a prime time country-radio personality. He picked up a second on-air personality role as "Luke Matthews" at neighboring WTIS Radio, a Christian format station, in St. Petersburg and successfully carried both personalities for many years.
Poirier later switched his attention to the stage--when a chance to perform in the British parody "Bullshot Crummond" allowed him to showcase his comedic improv skills--and from there to film. Starting out as a background extra in Tony Goldwyn's "Conviction", he made several appearances as a featured extra in the first season of HBO's comedy "Hung" and after additional training in the craft started landing supporting and leading roles in short films and then independent features.
His years spent as a radio personality made his work as a broadcaster seem second nature as he slipped comfortably into the host roles for the weekly entertainment news program "Michigan Film News" and then later as sports commentator for "Rink Warriors".
A Method actor by nature, Poirier further immerses himself in roles by eagerly altering his appearance, whether it's gaining or losing weight, growing, coloring or removing some or all his hair or wearing heavy prosthetics. Regardless if it's mastering long monologues or running miles uphill in snow (check out "The Boreal"), Poirier's work is proof that he is committed to his directors' visions and the projects they're working on.
